Goals

  • Introduction to the instrument : understand how to hold the guitar and plectrum.

  • Introduction to sheet music : Learn the basics and identify them in your course material.

  • First Position : Learn the notes of the natural keys in first position on all strings.

  • The Staff

  • The Clef

  • Whole-notes, Half-notes, Quarter-notes and equivalent rests

  • Time-Signatures

First Position Notes on:

  • E (First) String

  • B (Second) String

  • G (Third) String

  • D (Fourth) String

  • A (Fifth) String

  • E (Sixth) String

Introduction to :

  • Duets

  • Chords

  • Scales

​

Rhythm Reading (5 exercises) :

  • Whole-note, Half-note, Quarter-note, Eighth-note and equivalent rests.

  • Common Time-Signature.​
