ℹ️ Important: what "exam centre" means for each board

We are only an authorised exam centre for ABRSM — this means ABRSM examiners come to our school and students sit their ABRSM practicals here in person. For Trinity, Trinity Rock & Pop, and LCM: we teach to their syllabi, prepare students thoroughly, and students can record their exam performances in our rooms for digital submission to those boards. We do not host those exams on-site and we are not authorised centres for them.

Why on-site exams matter

Same room, same piano — no exam-day nerves

Students who sit exams in unfamiliar venues often underperform relative to their actual ability. The nerves of a new room, a different piano, and strange acoustics all add up. By hosting ABRSM exams here, our students walk into their exam exactly as they would walk into a normal class.

🎹 B. Steiner grand — exam room piano

The piano used for ABRSM practicals is our B. Steiner upright grand, tuned by Furtados three times a year. Students practise on it regularly. No surprises on exam day.

Our B. Steiner upright grand is regularly tuned and maintained by Furtados Music — so students sit their ABRSM practicals on an instrument that is in proper playing condition, in the same room they practise in every week.

📋 All rehearsal rooms exam-ready

Every practice room has a music stand and stool for the candidate. Sheet music is brought by the student; everything else is in place.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents welcome

Parents and guardians are welcome to wait on-site during exams. We're a school, not an exam hall — the environment is familiar and comfortable for students.

Which instruments can take grade exams

Most instruments we teach have an exam pathway through one or more boards. The table below shows what's available.

🎹 Piano

ABRSM Grade 1–8 (on-site). Trinity Grade 1–8. LCM Grade 1–8. Theory exam preparation available alongside.

🎸 Guitar

ABRSM Classical Guitar Grade 1–8 (on-site). Trinity Classical and Rock & Pop. LCM Guitar.

🎻 Violin & Viola

ABRSM Grade 1–8 (on-site). Trinity Grade 1–8. Viola available as secondary from Grade 5 violin.

🎹 Organ

ABRSM Organ Grade 1–8 — on-site practical exams. Students sit ABRSM organ practicals here on our Viscount 3-manual organ with full 32-key pedalboard.

🎶 Xylophone & Percussion

ABRSM Percussion Grade 1–8 — on-site practical exams. Includes xylophone and mallet percussion. Students practise and sit their exams on our Majestic 3.5-octave concert xylophone.
