Posture, bowing and tone from your very first lesson. ABRSM grade pathway from beginner to Grade 8. Dodda Banaswadi, Bangalore.
Violin is one of the most technically demanding instruments โ and one of the most rewarding. Classes at Fingersmith's Garage focus on building correct foundations from lesson one, because bad habits in early violin are extremely difficult to unlearn later.
Correct violin hold, bow grip and standing position are established in the very first lessons and maintained throughout. These fundamentals make everything else possible.
Beautiful tone production comes from correct bowing technique โ pressure, speed and sounding point. We spend time on this before building repertoire speed.
Violin is unfretted โ intonation comes from the ear. Aural training runs alongside every class, and is also covered in combined Zoom group theory sessions.
Intermediate students can join ensemble classes and work on duet pieces. Our choir also works with strings at recital level.
We are an authorised ABRSM practical exam centre โ violin students sit their ABRSM exams right here. For Trinity, we prepare students and they record their performances here for digital submission.
Students must bring their own violin and bow. Rosin and a shoulder rest are recommended. Sheet music stand and stool are provided in class. Not sure what size violin your child needs? We'll advise before you enrol.
Students who complete Grade 5 violin and wish to add viola can proceed to viola classes as a secondary instrument. Viola fingering and clef differences are taught from Grade 5 violin foundation.
