Everything you need to know about the Fingersmith's Garage student app โ booking classes, tracking your schedule, making payments, and practising with built-in tools.
Sign in uses your Google account. Tap "Continue with Google" and choose the Google account linked to your enrolment. There is no password to remember.
On iPhone or iPad, use the web version at student.fingersmith.in and tap the Google button there.
You may have signed in with a different Google account to the one on your enrolment, or your profile is still being set up (this takes up to a minute).
Close and reopen the app. If it still shows nothing, message us on WhatsApp.
After you complete the sign-up steps โ subject, name, WhatsApp number, and the final confirmation โ the app shows a "Setting up your accountโฆ" screen and runs four steps automatically:
When your payment link is ready it appears on the app and is also sent to your WhatsApp. If this takes longer than 3 minutes, tap "Check again" or "Go to the app".
Tap the menu icon at the top left, or swipe from the left edge, to open the drawer. It contains:
Tapping the bell opens your Notifications page, showing recent alerts โ class reminders, payment updates, and cancellation confirmations. A red badge on the icon shows how many you haven't read yet.
Open the Schedule tab (the first tab on the home screen). It shows your classes for the selected date. Use the "Previous Day", "Today", and "Next Day" buttons at the bottom to move between dates. Tap and hold "Today" to jump to any specific date.
Tap the class card. A panel slides up showing the date, time, teacher, room, duration, points, and status. If the class can still be cancelled, you'll also see a "Cancel Class" button at the bottom of the panel.
On the Schedule tab, tap "Book a Class". Booking is open for today and the next 4 days only.
After confirming, you'll see: "Booking request placed! You'll be notified on WhatsApp once confirmed." The school confirms your booking and notifies you on WhatsApp.
No. Booking is only available for today and the next 4 days. The "Book a Class" button shows a message if you're viewing a date outside that window.
Yes. On the booking summary step, turn on "Add a backup slot" to add a second preference โ if your first choice is taken, the school will try the backup instead.
You can also tick "Reserve when available" to hold a slot for you if one opens up when another student cancels (at least 7 hours before the class starts). You'll get a WhatsApp notification when a slot is booked for you.
If you see a dialog titled "Could Not Place Request" โ "Unable to place your booking request. Please check your connection and try again." โ your internet connection most likely dropped. Check your connection and try again. If the problem continues, message us on WhatsApp.
Tap the class card on your Schedule. In the panel that opens, tap "Cancel Class". You'll be asked to enter a reason โ it must be at least 10 characters long. Once submitted, the card turns orange to show the cancellation is pending. You'll be notified on WhatsApp when your teacher confirms.
No. The "Cancel Class" button is hidden for past classes, and for any class already marked as Present, Absent, or Cancellation Requested.
Open the drawer and tap "Cancelled Classes". You'll see your last 20 cancellations, most recent first. Tap any record for full details โ subject, date, time, teacher, and room. Older records are in your WhatsApp chat with us.
Open the Courses tab (the second tab on the home screen). You'll see every subject you're enrolled in. Tap a subject to see its topics, then tap a topic to see its lessons. Tap a lesson to open its attached material โ PDF, video, or link โ in your browser.
That lesson doesn't have a file attached yet. Your teacher may add one later. If you need the material now, message us on WhatsApp.
A practice metronome to help you keep time while playing. You can set the tempo from 20 to 240 BPM, choose 1 to 8 beats per bar, and use tap tempo to match a song you're listening to.
Android app only. The metronome is not available on the web version. If you're on iPhone, iPad, or a desktop browser, download the Android app to use it.
A chromatic pitch tuner for string and other instruments. How to use it:
If the tuner doesn't respond, check that you've allowed microphone access for the app in your phone's settings.
Each class you book costs a certain number of points. Your points balance is set by your payment plan โ when you pay for a new cycle, your balance is topped up.
Open your Profile page โ tap your avatar at the top right of the home screen. Your current points balance is shown there.
When your balance is running low, we'll send you a payment link on WhatsApp for your next cycle. Just tap the link on WhatsApp to pay โ you don't need to do anything in the app itself.
We send you a payment link on WhatsApp before your current cycle ends. Tap the link to pay via Razorpay. The link can be forwarded โ so if a parent is handling payments, you can pass the link on to them.
Yes. Open the drawer and tap "Payment History", then tap "Get a Payment Link" at the bottom. If an active link already exists, the app shows it immediately. If not, a new one is generated within a few seconds.

Your allocations are your regular recurring class slots โ the weekly day and time you normally attend. Open the drawer and tap "Allocations" to see them. Active slots are shown first, sorted by day and time.
You don't apply directly from the app โ your teacher files the application on your behalf. Once it's been filed, open the drawer and tap "Grade Exams" to see the status of your application.
The Leave Tracker feature is not available in the current version of the app. Please message us on WhatsApp if you need to record a leave period.
Open the drawer and tap "Notification Settings".
First, open your phone's settings and make sure notifications are allowed for the Fingersmith's Garage app. Then open the app's own Notification Settings from the drawer and check your preferences there.
The in-app Notifications screen shows recent alerts only. Older notifications are in your WhatsApp chat with us.
Tap your avatar at the top right of the home screen, or open the drawer and tap "Profile". You can edit: full name, primary phone, alternate phone, residential address, about, date of birth, gender, and profile photo. Your email address is linked to your Google account and cannot be changed from the app.
Open your Profile page and tap the sign-out icon at the top right of the screen.
